Louise Crouchet Higgins

Attorney Louise Crouchet Higgins was born and raised in the New Orleans metropolitan area. While raising a family, she received both her undergraduate degree from Our Lady of Holy Cross College (OLHCC) and her law degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana.
While attending OLHCC, Louise received the annual Outstanding Student in Business award twice. She was inducted as a member of Sigma Beta Delta, the National Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration and was also a member of Kappa Gamma Pi, the National Catholic Graduate Honor Society. Louise graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Management and was awarded the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key. This award is given to the graduating student from the College of Business Administration who holds the highest grade point average. Louise also received an award for Outstanding Student in the Division of Applied Sciences.
Louise received her law degree from Loyola University New Orleans, School of Law. While in law school, she received invitations to join the Maritime Law Journal, the Journal of Public Interest Law and the Law and Technology Journal. Louise participated in Street Law, which is a course of study that brings practical application of the law to high school students; she chose to focus her efforts at a school for students with learning difficulties. In her final year of law school, Louise served as a law clerk with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Customs and Enforcement.
Louise’s legal career began at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Federal Circuit. As case manager, she handled approximately 2,500 cases on an annual basis and was able to concentrate her efforts in all aspects of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure. These cases originated from District Courts in Eastern and Southern Texas as well as federal agency cases that included the former Immigration and Naturalization Service, the United States Tax Court, National Labor Relations Board, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Aviation Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and the Benefits Review Board. Former Chief Judge Henry A. Politz recognized her exceptional performance in the Fifth Circuit by honoring her with a Special Services Award.
In 2007, Louise was a recipient of the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center Award in recognition of her efforts to rescue and save homeless animals and pets after Hurricane Katrina. This award is presented to members of the law community who exemplify service to those in need outside of a normal work day.
After joining the Irpino Law Firm in January of 2009, Louise began to concentrate her practice on complex personal injury litigation. Louise is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state and federal courts as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of several organizations including the American Bar Association, the National Association of Women Lawyers, the Association of Women Attorneys, Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association.
Louise is married to Stephen Higgins, a successful Certified Public Accountant who maintains a sole practice in the metro New Orleans area. They have one child, Conner.
